Dorothy Bartlett

Dorothy Marie Henry Bartlett, 95 years old, was promoted to be with our Lord on Monday, February 22nd at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Cause of death was pneumonia.

Born on September 25th, 1914, Dorothy lived in Des Moines her entire life. She attended “Dear” East High and graduated in 1932. Dorothy was a devoted employee at the Des Moines Public Library for many years. After her retirement, she volunteered a great amount of time at the Not New Shop in Des Moines. She also was on the Des Moines Area Religious Council.

Dorothy had one child, Kathyrn Marie Bartlett Weiss, who was born on November 7th, 1939. Dorothy was completely devoted to her daughter for 30 years, stepping in to help care for her children when Leukemia took her life on June 2nd 1970. Mother and Daughter will once again be reunited.

Dorothy is survived by her three Granddaughters in California; Cynthia Crittenton, Sandra Cowan and Elena Spencer. She is also survived by three Great- Grandchildren in California; Anastasia Crittenton, Danielle Cowan and Eric Cowan. Dorothy was blessed to be loved and cared for in her last days by her nephew, Dick and Rose Kettles of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
