Anastasia Short

Anastasia Short, 80, passed away February 22, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Anastasia was born July 11, 1929 in Fairmont, MN to Nicholas and Irene Deneson. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines. Anastasia worked for Bankers Rubber Stamp as a manager then went to work for the VA Hospital as secretary to the chief of laboratory and retired after 14 years of service. She then went on to work for Watson P.C. and retired in 2008 after 18 years of service. Anastasia was an active member of Highland Park Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards, going for drives and QT’s french vanilla cappuccino.

Anastasia is survived by her daughter, Tamara L. Ferrari; sisters, Chrisoula Fiers and Ourania Bowen; brother, Paul (Bonnie) Deneson, Sr.; grandchildren, Ashley, Danny and Dennis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Short II; son, John L. Short III; and her daughter, Peggy A. Craft; her sisters, Evgenia Shaeffer, Kathelyn Harrington and Ruth Theophane Lee; her brother, Nicholas Narve Deneson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Christian Church or Israel Family Hospice House.
