Winnie Lewis

Winnie Lewis, 75, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2007. A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Thursday February 22, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Winnie, born February 9, 1932 to Onie and Henrietta Gean in Arkansas, made Des Moines her home, most of her adult life. She was a faithful member of the Hickman Road Church of Christ. Winnie lived her life in the service to others and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Winnie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Derald; children, Michael (Carmen) Lewis, Nancy (Kevin) Carrick, and Tim (Robin) Lewis; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many brothers; sisters; nieces; and nephews; and a host of beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Debbie Matkins.
She will be greatly missed by all. Memorial contributions may be given to the Debbie Matkins Scholarship Fund, York College, York, NE 68467
