Barbara Jean Fiscus, 59, passed away on February 8, 2010. She was born on November 18, 1950 to Dorothy and Frank Driscoll in Des Moines, Iowa.
Barbara was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed writing poetry, spending time with her family, and her beloved dogs. Barbara was very devout in her faith. She never knew a stranger, and everyone was always welcome.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Fiscus; son, Jim Jr. Fiscus; daughter, Tracey (Travis) Fiscus-Sisney; siblings, Patty Irvin, Sue Driscoll, and Jim Driscoll; brother in law, Dan Fiscus; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; her loving dog, Kami, grand-dog, Kedo, and many other friends and loved ones. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Danny Driscoll.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Burial will follow funeral services at Avon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family in loving memory of Barbara.

I have sent Barb several messages when she was in the hospital, and I regretably never went to see her. I attempted when she first went to the hospital and she was in a test of some sort. I never went back, but she was ALWAYS in my thoughts & prayers. I never dreamed it would come to this.
I must say she was the nicest person in our division. She was always positive, didn't say a bad word about anyone & was just a good, honest person. Very hard to come by this day and age. She was extremely hard working & the expert "file finder". We always exchanged pleasantries in passing, "are we done yet?" "Can we go home now"? I still find myself looking for her to be coming back from her "smoke break" when I am leaving for the day. And, halloween will not be the same either. She had some GREAT costumes & was always a fun person.
Barb will be greatly missed in our division. It just isn't the same w/out her. I still walk by her desk and can't believe she's gone. I am thankful that she is no longer suffering. No one should have to live with the pain that she had. She is at peace now & she's in good hands. You have my deepest sympathies and I am sorry we lost her. I purchased some Daffodils in honor of her and plan on planting the bulbs in my flower garden (if we ever get rid of this snow) so that I can remember the cheerful person she once was.
