Charleen “Totsy” Christensen, 74, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 204 W. 2nd Street in Kimballton, Iowa, followed by burial at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1-4 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona IA.
Charleen was born August 6, 1935, and spent the better part of her childhood at the Elim Children’s home in Elk Horn, Iowa, where Palma Petersen guided her through her formative years. She spent one year each at Dana College and Northeast Montana State University before marrying Svend in 1955. She worked at Joy B. Fitzgerald’s Inc. for many years before opening Permits Plus Inc. with her longtime friend Donna James in 1998.
Totsy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Svend Christensen; daughters, Patricia Christensen, Amy (Ron) Buenger, Judy Christensen and Susan Backe; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother DeWitt; and sister, Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted, and sisters, Vicki and Lorena.
Memorial Contributions may be directed toward The Special Olympics Foundation in loving memory of Totsy.

So sorry about your Mother. What a difficult time this must be for you. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers.
I remember some of the funny stories you have told us about her and her character. I know you will always have them.

Dear Uncle Svend and girls,
