Phyllis June Wiezorek
February 03, 2010
Phyllis June Wiezorek, 71, passed away February 3, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center.
Phyllis was born August 12, 1938 in Des Moines. She retired from Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 1994 and had also previously worked at Johnny’s Vets Club.
Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures. She always did without so her children didn’t have to. Phyllis made sure her family had Christmas and the house was decorated, no matter how difficult it was. If you were a friend of her children, you were a friend of hers. She loved to draw & doodle and write her own sayings in cards, never forgot anyone’s birthday and always sent a card. Phyllis had faith in God, felt life was too short not to forgive and believed in the promise of Spring. She loved to garden, cook and make home remedies for illnesses. Phyllis will be remembered for always going out of her way to help others.
Phyllis is survived by Ginger and her children, Deborah Cox, Mary (Bill) Campbell, Paul (Julie) Wiezorek and Malinda Weets; eight grandchildren, David, Kelley, Sarah, Jason, Jamie, Darren, Aarron and Carly; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Hawthorn, Francis Younkin and Vern (Dolly) Watters; sisters-in-law, Judy (Leroy) German, Lynn (John) Koester and Janis (Gerald) Balzer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Nellie Watters; and siblings, Viola Mendenhall, Edna Watters, Chuck Watters and Don Watters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Dear family of my Dear Aunt Phyllis,
I am so sorry that this had to happen, but one of the greatest women I have ever known has gone home to be with her siters & brothers. Aunt Phyl was one of a kind. She was there when you needed advice, a laughe, or just a shoulder to cry on. She was allways so supportive of her friends & family, never, ever have I heard her say a bad word about anyone. Oh how I am going to miss her. I think it is because she reminds me so much of my Grandma Vi. I would not trade either of them for anything.
Dear Aunt Phyl, you just go home & rest & never stop looking out for all of us. When I get a phone call & no one is there I know it will be you!
God bless you & keep you in his arms.
Love Allway's, your nephew who you never gave up on Jakey

My childhood is freckled with happy memories of Phyllis.

I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to Phyllis' family and friends. She was extremly kind and giving to my parents and was a great comfort to my mother, Alverda Chamberlain, at the time of my father's recent death. Phyllis was a very loving and giving and thoughtful person and she will be missed by many.
