Susan: We all love and cherish you..
You see, Susan was the first-born grandchild in our family. She immediately stole the hearts of my Mom and Dad and she named them Granny and Pa. We know that you are up there with Pa right now. Matt and Bret followed Susies lead and our parents have been Granny and Pa ever since.
Even though she was not the first-born grandchild in the Hilliard family we all knew that they loved and cherished her just as much as we did.
Susie was born the year that I graduated from the University of Iowa. I remember the day in April that I got the call that she had been born. The year was 1969. That was the beginning of an incredible life that was cut short much too soon.
Susie was a wonderful baby with great big beautiful, brown eyes. She grew into a happy and caring little girl with those big, beautiful brown eyes. She grew into her teen years and she shined both in academics and in athletics and she still had those big, beautiful brown eyes. She became the Homecoming Queen her senior year of high school because of those big beautiful brown eyes and her incredible personality. I will never forget her laugh and it will echo in my mind forever along with her voice on the telephone.
Next stop was the University of Iowa just like her Mom, her Dad and her brother Matt. She always was our bright and shining star. There, she decided to become a teacher. Teaching came very naturally to her. If you are one of the lucky ones to have had a child in her classroom, you know what I mean. And if you were lucky enough to have been a student in her classroom, Im sure that you will remember those big, beautiful brown eyes.
One person that I know that fell in love with those big, beautiful brown eyes was Mike and the rest is history. A gorgeous wedding and off they went to live their lives together. They have two beautiful children that we will cherish forever. And it just so happens that they have big, beautiful brown eyes too. Susie loved her life and especially Mike and Anna and Mason.
We love you - Mike and Anna and Mason and we will always be there for you.
We love you too Susie and every night I will look to the heavens for that shining star with the big, beautiful brown eyes.
Thank you so much for letting me share my thoughts

I was deeply saddened when I learned that Susan was no longer with us. Susan was an awesome friend from junior high through college. We bonded during many extracurricular activities from sports to choir. She was so easy to like and love. We had lost touch after college and I was shocked to learn that she had been ill for so long.
I am lucky to have known her.
Im glad she has found peace. You are all in my prayers.

Six years ago, an idea was brought to Dr. Werner about starting an all-school play. She was all for it, but she said that it needed a teacher to help sponsor it. Susan stepped right up and volunteered to help coordinate it. It ended up being a success and six years later, it is still going strong. Because of Susan, hundreds of children were exposed to theater. Because of Susan, kids had the chance to explore their creativity on stage. She handled every question, frustration and problem with grace, humor and professionalism. I could always count on her to give me a smile and reassure me when things were getting a little crazy.
Besides helping with the play, she was also two of my children's teacher each who loved going to school every day because of her. She made the classroom a special place where each child could reach their own potential. She was always supportive of them and they felt they could do anything because she believed in them.
I want you to know that we have prayed for all of you for years hoping for the best. You will have no idea how many times through the past couple of years, the kids have brought up "Mrs. Mo" at dinner hoping that she was doing better. I think you know, but you can never hear it enough, she was loved. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Susan's family,
We dont know each other, but I wanted to extend my condolences to your family. I met Susan during her senior year at NU High School. I was an exchange student that year and I remember Susan as warm, friendly, and welcoming. She was one of the people who made me feel at home while at NU. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. May she be in union with God, and may the love of Mary our Mother surround all of you and help you heal.

Both Nolan and Clint had Susan for their 4th grade teacher. They loved her and 4th grade was the best year for both of them because of her. Beth also became friends with Susan though the boys and many school plays. We loved her smile and happy nature. Thank you for sharing her with us.

My son, Michael, had Mrs. Mo for 4th grade several years ago. He is a sophomore at Valley High now. She was one of his favorite teachers ever. She was so kind and very caring. She made sure that Michael got the attention he needed. Mrs. Mo was one very special teacher and a sweet person. As the years went by, whenever I saw her in the halls at school, she'd always ask how Michael was doing. She didn't forget him. Susan touched more lives than most people do in their lives. God bless her and just know that many people are praying for all of her family.
