Wilbur Martens

Wilbur Martens, 81, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington MN.

Wilbur was born June 5 1927 to Jessie and James Martens in Des Moines, Iowa, where he resided his entire life. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Wilbur enjoyed reading, arrow head and artifact hunting and helping his wife Catherine in the garden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Catherine; daughter, Mary (Ray) Caster; grandchildren, Laura (Christopher) Kendrick, Joseph Caster and Alissa Campbell; and great-grandchildren, James Kendrick and Aiden Campbell.

A funeral service will be 2:30 PM Saturday, February 6, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines IA with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Society for the Blind.
