Charles “Chuck” Evans, 88, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Drive, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, where family will be present.
Chuck was born December 4, 1921 to Arley and Opal Evans in Pleasantville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired in 1984 from Allied Insurance as an underwriter. Chuck was a member of Wakonda Christian Church, South Des Moines Lions Club, and the Masonic Lodge.
Chuck is survived by his children, Cathi (Roger) Hackbarth and Brian (Karen) Evans; grandson, Brent (Jennifer) Evans; great-grandson, Owen Michael Evans; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; and brother, Russell Wayne Evans.
Memorial contributions may be given to South Des Moines Lions Club.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of North Sixth at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for the kindness and care they provided to Chuck.

We were very sorry to learn of the loss of your Father, Brian. You were so fortunate to have him in your life for so many years, but that may make the loss of him even more difficult. Our condolences go out to you, Karen, and you entire family.
