Ruth Orr

Ruth White Orr was born on January 9, 1951 to Charlie B. White and Mollie Smith. She departed this world January 20, 2010 at 8:47 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Ruth was known to most as “Rooster” as a young girl. She loved and confessed in Christ early in life. Ruth met and married Eugene Orr in 1980. In 1982, they moved to St. Louis, MO then back to Des Moines in 2006.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, Eugene; sons, Johnny and William Pippins and daughters, Rachel and Felicia Pippins, all of IA; eight sisters, Ida Mae Henderson, Evelyn Johnson, Mollie White, Vida White, Ora Lee White and Darlene Graves, all of IA, Christine Simmion of Elgin, IL and Gussie White of Joliet, IL; three brothers, Olden Butler and Charles White, both of IA and Lovell White of Blyville, AR; ten grandchildren, Brittany Davis of Oklahoma City, OK, Antania, Chantavia, Jayla and Sincere Pippins, Janeva Thompson, DeMario and DeMarianna Angel, Halle Crocket and Chozan Randall, all of Des Moines; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and a very special friend, Daryl Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gloria Henderson; brother, Frank “Sunny Boy” White; three nephews, Jerome “Pooh Bear” White, Tyrone White and Tyrone Logan; and a niece, Yolanda “Pooh” West.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
