James LaFon, Sr.

James LaFon, 77, passed away January 20, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. James was born August 16, 1932 to Dale and Opal LaFon in Carlisle, Iowa.

James owned JD Auto Repair. James was a Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW. James enjoyed being with his family, fishing, camping, and their retirement time at Sun Valley Lake, and watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his son Dale Jr.

James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara LaFon; his children Gloria (Robert) Carney; Sue (Daryl) Achey; Harold (Cathy) Carney; Debra (Roger) Tabor; and James (Missy) LaFon Jr.; 15 grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; and a brother Darrell LaFon.

James was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carol Naomi; and a Great Grandson Dominic LaFon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Drive. Visitation will be held Friday, from 5-8 pm at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of James. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses at the Mercy C-TSICU.
