Esther Fay De Hamer

Esther Fay De Hamer, 83, left this earth on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who she had faithfully served since she was a small girl.

She was born on August 1, 1926 to Benjamin and Sarah Simons in Newton, Iowa. Esther was an actively involved member of several Assembly of God churches in the area throughout her life. She loved playing the piano and organ in church and for services at Fountain West Health Center where she resided. She and her beloved husband, Marion, who left this world before her, raised four sons; Ron, David, Rick and Doug who are eternally grateful for the wonderful Christian heritage they were blessed with. She was an amazing mother and loved by all who knew her. We will miss her greatly, but know she is where she always longed to be. She leaves her four sons; four daughter-in-laws: Barb, Corinne, Jan and Denise; nine granddaughters; three grandsons; 14 great grandchildren; and scores of friends.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue from 5-7 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at New Hope Assembly of God, 6800 Townsend Avenue, Urbandale at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
