Rebecca (Becky) Reinier, 60, of Des Moines, IA, died of cancer on Tuesday January 19, 2010, at Kavanagh House on 56th in Des Moines, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Des Moines with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m.at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Becky Reinier. Memorials may be directed to 1406 Linden Lane Des Moines, IA 50315.

Becky was born on March 31, 1949, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Dr. George Murphy and Bettie (Murphy) Bernardy. She lived in the Jesup, Iowa area until 1963 when the family moved to Tama, Iowa. Becky graduated from South Tama High School in 1967, where she was a member of the band and drama club.

She graduated from Stewart School of Hairstyling in 1970. She then became an instructor at the Stewart School. During her career, she managed many salons in Davenport and Des Moines, including Golden Tan. She later joined her husband’s company, Reinier Construction, as an interior designer.

Becky's hobbies and special interests included entertaining, gardening, making cookies with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed the annual mother and daughter bed and breakfast trips.

She is survived by her loving husband David; her four children, Tessa Reinier-Ralston (Nick), Remy Reinier (Dave Rengel), Todd and Timothy Reinier; two grandchildren, Drew and Sam Ralston; her mother, Bettie Bernardy; her stepfather, Ben Bernardy; her brothers, Dr. Michael Murphy (Wendy) of Hannibal, Mo., Tim Murphy, Hannibal, Joe Murphy (Kay) of Toledo, and Tom Murphy (Chris) of Tama; her sisters, Susan Auffart (Craig), Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathy Studards (Chris) of Steeleville, Mo., and Ann Brown (Burdette) of Oskaloosa; her three stepbrothers and her two stepsisters, all of California; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as her puppy dog Max.

Becky was preceded in death by her father, George Murphy, her brother, Dave Murphy and her brother, Jim Murphy.

The family would like to thank Kavanagh House Hospice and their volunteers for their loving care.
