Service Details

Robert H. Williams went home to his Beloved Lord on February 15, 2007. He was born on August 24, 1924, in Olmitz, IA, and grew up on a small farm near Williamson as one of four children of Glenn and Lena Williams. He served in the Army during WWII stationed in England where he was awarded the Bronze Star and met his bride, Hilda Irene Ridings. After his discharge, they returned to Iowa where he earned a degree from Graceland College in business. They settled in the Des Moines area and built a house where they have lived since. He worked in accounting for area packing plants, manager for several country clubs and restaurants, and as a salesman. After retirement, he worked at Sears Credit until he was 79. His great love for the Lord was evident in his life and second to that was his love for his wife of 62 years and his family. He was completely devoted to them and they were to him.
Surviving are his wife, Irene, his children Glenn (Linda) Williams, A. Kirk Williams, Cynthia (Dennis) Thompson, Heather (Jonathan) Ribble. He has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home and services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God on Army Post Road.
