Mauri Booton, 60, was born February 19, 1949 in Hamburg, Iowa and died suddenly Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the Celebration.

Mauri was a very spirited, independent and caring man. He dedicated himself to raising cancer awareness through fundraising and volunteering. He was the founder of Project Woo Hoo!! and the former owner of Great Harvest Bread Company.

Mauri’s memory will forever be cherished by the love of his life, Mary Hellerstedt. He will also be remembered for his zest for life by the many friends whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Maggie” Booton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for appropriation to John Stoddard Cancer Center and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training to carry on Mauri’s quest for a cure. “Woo Hoo!! Life is good!!”
