Service Details
Harriet Ruddell, 91, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Bright Kavanagh House Hospice. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Harriet was born January 13, 1919 to Carlo and Rosa Argenta in Avery, Iowa. She attended Christ the King Catholic Church and South Side Senior Center. Harriet enjoyed spending time with her family, dining out, and traveling.
Harriet is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Dick) Aldridge; grandchildren, Rick (Linda) Aldridge and Lynn Aldridge; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kerry Aldridge; sister, Della Albright; and a host of other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail; parents, Carlo and Rosa; brothers, David, Americo, Charlie, and Johnny; and sisters, Norma, Lena, Rosa, Celia, Lizbeth, Florence, Amelia, and Mary.
Memorial contributions may be given to South Side Senior Center, 100 Payton Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50315.

I have just moved back to the US and was looking up information on the Internet for Harriet Ruddell and her daughter Colleen, (I lived nextdoor to them during my childhood ) Needless to say I am sad to hear Harriet passed away - She was truly someone I looked up to in so many ways.
