John Arthur Moore

John Arthur Moore, 93 died Sunday, December 27, 2009 in Indianola from complications of alzheimers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 1-2 p.m., Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with graveside services following at 2:30 p.m., Laurel Hill Cemetery.

John was born on May 12, 1916 and raised in the Jefferson area. He joined the Iowa National Guard after high school and was a member of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division out of Camp Dodge; serving his country in North Africa and Italy during WW II. After the war, John married Maryl Smith and together raised one daughter, Candice on the southside of Des Moines.

John is survived by his daughter, Candice (Rob) Foster; grandsons, Zeke and Frank Foster; siblings, Cy Moore, Eleanor Stanley, Lewis Moore and Virgil Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryl; siblings, Esther Huggins, Lois Kennedy, Alberta McDonald, Roger Moore and Marlys Ury.
