Evelyn lived most of her 87 years on the south side of Des Moines, but moved to Indianola in her last years to be near her family. She worked as a nurse at Blank Children’s Hospital, and Lutheran Hospital and worked many years as a private duty nurse in other hospitals and private homes. After retiring as a nurse she found she had too much time on her hands, so she worked her last years as a teacher at the ABC School of Learning.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:00 am at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th in Des Moines, with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. A visitation will occur Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Els,
Your dear mother lighten my life in ways you will never know. My mother also said to send you a message of sympathy and that our prayers are with you and your entire family. I went to the center last week to wish her a Merry Christmas and they said she was at the hospital....never did I think she would not return.
I will hold here in my heart for a lifetime and thank her for coming into my life, as she introduced me to you...a friend for life. God Bless Evelyn and her zanny antics and the fun we had while in her later years...she will always bring a smile to my heart!!
Love you Tracy

I'm So Sorry for your loss of your Mother. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find some comfort in God, Family and Friends. May you find some peace somehow in this grief filled time in your lives. There are never the right words to express the sadness I feel for such a loss.
Words, however kind, can't mend your heartache, but those who care and share your loss wish you comfort and peace of mind,
may you find strength, in love of family and in the warm embrace of your friends.
Death leaves a heartache
No one can heal
Love leaves a memory you have
No one can steal.
My Deepest Sympathy,
Love, Norma
