Clyde “Skip” Folsom, 86, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, due to complications of Lewy Body Disease. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:30 pm, on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 E. Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Skip was born June 8, 1923 to Clyde Sr. and Helen Folsom in Des Moines. He graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the Army during WW II. Skip retired as a manager from Jacobson Warehouse in 1971 and was a member of the DAV. Skip was an avid golfer and, in his later years, would golf exclusively at Grand View Golf Course.
Skip is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geraldine “Geri” Folsom; children, Shannon (Gary) Enfield, Tom Folsom (Julie Peters), and Dana (Kendall) Soll; grandchildren, Michael Folsom, Jenny Enfield Dean, Ian Folsom, Mera (Todd) Logsdon, Jessica (Nic) Wycoff, and Kelli Soll; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Ellie; brother, Jerry (Millie) Folsom; sister, Carolyn Hart; many nieces; nephews; and beloved friends. He will be missed by his many friends and staff at the Iowa Veterans Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lesa Folsom; and brothers, Bill and Bob Folsom.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Iowa Veterans Home and all the great care they gave to Skip.

Just wanted to let you know am sorry at your loss. Really enjoyed living across the street (918 E 12th yellow house) from your family and had fun trading stories and tires with Skip over the years.

Dear Folsom Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Skip's passing. During the 1980's my kids and I lived both at 917 E 12th and then across the street at 918 E 12th and enjoyed knowing both your Mom and Dad and Lesa. One of the kids remembers Skip's smile as he talked with them and how interested he was in what was happening in the neighborhood. He was a good man who wasn't afraid to enjoy life and what it held.
Again, thank you for being good neighbors.

Dear Geri & family,
I just read about Clyde in the DM paper. You have my sympathy, thoughts and prayers. I have fond memories of the Folsom family growing up. Marilou has kept me informed over the years about you all.
