Service Details
Leonard VanderSchel, 65, was born December 14, 1944 in Des Moines, the son of Garrett and Irma VanderSchel. He passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Len is survived by his son, Troy VanderSchel; siblings, Kendell (Linda) VanderSchel, Lola (Jerry) Tschetter, David (Deb) VanderSchel, Joyce (Dennis) Day, Kevin (Sharon) VanderSchel and Kris (Roger) Woodward; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th St. SW in Altoona with inurnment to follow at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the service.
Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Leonard was an amazing man! He lived with my mother in Spokane for a little while after his surgery. He will be missed.
