John Walter Dingeman, 84, passed away December 20, 2009 at Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.

John was born November 4, 1925 in Des Moines to John and Hazel (Weaver) Dingeman. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. John was a carpenter for Meredith Corp. and spent twenty years during retirement as a maintenance man and carpenter for Western Village in West Des Moines. John had a strong conviction to his faith daily. He loved to bake and cook. He had a deep sense of compassion for children.

John is survived by his brother, Donald Dingeman of Des Moines; sisters, Marie Wilbois of Des Moines, Darlene Eikenberry of West Des Moines, Nadine Markum of Mars, PA and Marilyn Cook of Pleasantville, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by sisters, Betty Barr, Kathryn Eivens, and Naomi Dingeman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be held from 9 to 10 am and for friends from 10 to 11 am Saturday prior to the service.
