Mable Thomas

Mable Louise Thomas, was born May 7, 1918 in Lucas County, Iowa. Mable was the daughter of Samuel Harrison Hupp and Bessie Scott Hupp. In 1928, her family moved to Arkansas, and returned to Iowa in 1932. She was married to Joseph Thomas and they lived their entire married life in Chariton. She owned and operated Mable's Beauty Shop in Chariton for many years. Upon her retirement, she moved to Des Moines to be closer to her family.

Mable Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Criswell Thomas; her parents; brother, Ralph Hupp; sister, Irene Cozad; half-sister, Flossie Sybert; and nephew, Roy Wayne Cozad. She is survived by her niece, Wanda (Cozad) Ortiz; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Chariton Cemetery in Chariton, Iowa.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Wesley Acres Retirement Home to the Good Samaritan Fund in loving memory of Mable.
