John R. McCarty

John “Bob” R. McCarty, 84, passed away December 15, 2009 at Wesley Acres. A brief graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, MO.

Bob was born December 5, 1925 in Milan, MO to Joseph and Ethel McCarty. He served as a Merchant Marine during WWII. Bob was a Field Auditor with the Dept. of Human Services for the State of Iowa until his retirement in 1980. He was a pilot and loved automobiles and his grand-dogs. Bob was also a talented guitar, banjo and harmonica player.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Kathie (Mike) Bingaman, Linda (Bob) Farr and Jill McCarty; his loving companion, Mary Laughlin; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and cousins, Larry Joe (Carolyn) McCarty of Green City, MO, and Joe (Frances) McCarty of Milan, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruth and brother Leo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Acres Good Samaritan Fund or Animal Lifeline of Des Moines, Iowa.
