Jane Ann Wedman

Jane Ann Wedman, 62, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center due to complications from breast cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 E. 12th Street.
Jane Ann was born May 14, 1947, in Des Moines to Ernest and Blanche (Mikesell) Peterson. She graduated from East High School in 1965. She then attended Grand View College and Iowa State University, where she received her Art Education Degree. Jane Ann received her master’s degree from Drake University in Administration. She worked for the Des Moines Public Schools for over 30 years, urging students to express themselves through art. She was an active member of her church and the Des Moines Scandinavian foundation where she served as president for several years. She also worked for the ASSE (American Scandanavian Student Exchange), helping students come to stay with families in central Iowa. Jane Ann loved to travel all over the world for new adventures. She also was an active member of the Des Moines Kennel Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her children, Erin (Joel) Schiltz of Des Moines and Jay Wedman of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Kirklin, Kinkade and Kaliapy Schiltz; her brother, Keith Peterson of South Whitley, Indiana and many more family and friends.
Memorials may be given to Union Park United Methodist Church.

Jay & family,
