In Bong Hwang

In Bong Hwang passed away in peace on December 10th, 2009 at Mercy Hospice, Johnston, Iowa.

Born in 1927 in a remote village in Northern part of Korea, she courageously lived through the tumultuous modern era of Korean history. She graduated from Seoul Evangelical Seminary in 1958 and served in many churches in Korea as a pastor in training, until she married Elder Tae Sung Hwang in 1964.

She then moved to Chicago in 1981 and worked to send her sons to colleges. She retired in 1991 and moved to Washington, DC, then finally to Des Moines, Iowa to join her son's family.

She was truly dedicated to Jesus and her Church, and enjoyed daily prayers and Christian music.

She is survived by two sons, five step children, and eighteen grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Visitation will be held from 2 hours prior to the service.
