To know him was to love him,
Gregory Kim Steward, 36, of Johnston, Iowa, tragically left his Earthly home on Friday, August 11th, 2023. This unexpected and sudden loss has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. Greg was a beloved son, son-in-law, devoted husband, and loving father. He understood the value of a life well-lived, and the impact he made on this world, the lives he touched, will be cherished and remembered forever.
Born on March 21, 1987, in Fort Riley, Kansas, Greg was the pride and joy of his parents, Steve and Nomi Steward. He was a source of immense pride for them, and he always strived for success in everything he did. Greg's drive, integrity, and positivity were evident from an early age. Greg was a true friend and a blessing to all who knew him. He had a magnetic personality and was always there for others. As an only child, his cousins became like siblings, forming an unbreakable bond. Above all, Greg cherished his roles as a husband and father.
Greg's journey began in Burlington, IA, where he spent his childhood and graduated from Burlington High School. He continued his education at Kirkwood Community College and the University of Dubuque. It was during this time that Greg discovered his true passion for real estate. With his unwavering work ethic, he became one of the top realtors in Iowa, working with RE/MAX Concepts and owning Steward Real Estate Group. His determination, success, and mentorship touched many lives in the community. Greg also played a significant role in helping his mother fulfill her dream of owning and operating a restaurant.
He was married to Josie Valentine (Dickerson) on August 16th, 2014, and together they shared the joy of their daughter, Hadley Rose. Greg's love for his little girl was unmatched and served as a driving force behind his success. His memory will forever live on in Hadley's heart.
On July 15th, 2019, Greg married his soulmate, Emina Kremic. They embarked on a journey together, as best friends and partners for life. Their life was cut short, but the memories they created will forever hold deep meaning. They welcomed their son, Ari Michael, in November 2021, and Greg was an amazing father who brought joy to their lives. During their recent trip to Europe, they received news that brought them immense joy and excitement - they were expecting another child due in February 2024. Greg's legacy will continue to live on through their growing family.
Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents and one uncle. He is survived by his wife, Emina; children, Hadley and Ari; parents, Steve and Nomi; mother-in-law, Dali; sister-in-law Edina; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends.
To dedicate and celebrate the remarkable life of Greg, a visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, IA. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 21 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway West Des Moines, Iowa with a private family burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the family where Emina will establish a trust for the children.
The family greatly appreciates your love, support, and continued prayers during this time, especially as we learn to navigate life without him.
Rest in peace to such a light in all of our lives. Greg's memory will guide us and remind us of the importance and fragility of each moment. May God surround us with strength, peace, and comfort. Let us embrace the love and life that surrounds us, and live fully in his honor.

Nomi, Steve, Emina, Hadley, Ari, little one expected in February, and other family & friends Greg was one of my best childhood friends. We spent so much time together hanging out in our youthful years playing Nintendo 64, goofing around outside our neighborhoods, and just enjoying each others company. I remember going over to his childhood home countless times (it almost felt like a second home, thanks to Nomi & Steve) just because I wanted to be around Greg. He was funny, eccentric, and just a fun person to be around. As we grew older and went our separate ways, we still kept in touch on occasion and I was able to see his successes in adult life flourish from afar. It was no surprise to me he became as successful as he did in his profession as well as his personal life, considering the wonderful person he was. When I heard the news of his passing this past weekend, I was deeply saddened knowing everything he was leaving behind a beautiful family and countless friends he has made along his journey in life. Greg will be greatly missed and I am extremely thankful to have known him. I will cherish the memories we shared together forever. Much love Riley

Steve, Nomie, Emina, Hadley, and Ari,
Sometimes there just arent words to describe the heaviness of one's heart. God washes the eyes by tears until they can behold the invisible land where tears shall come no more. - Henry Ward Beecher. May you find comfort in the memories you have, remember the laughter, the love Greg had for each one of you...♥🤗🙏
