Eugene H. Allen

Eugene Howard Allen (Gene), age 55, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his home in Des Moines.
Gene was born October 30, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack Lee Allen, Sr. and Sharon Kay (Hughes) Allen. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986.
He enjoyed working in the hospitality industry, especially at Fort Riley, KS. He also enjoyed his time working for the railroad in Wyoming. Gene enjoyed movie nights with family and friends, playing card games, and crocheting. He was a member of the LBGQ+ organization and loved to spread awareness.
Gene is survived by his father, Jack Allen, Sr.; brothers, Delbert (Kim) Allen and Kevin (Avonna) Allen of Des Moines, Iowa, his brother Daniel Spakosky of Tennessee, his sisters, Jolene (Eligah) Dukes, Nicole Coons and Amy Coons all of Junction City, Kansas; his daughter Amber Beckett of Madrid, Iowa; and grandchildren, Ambrasha and Ayanni.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sharon Allen, his brother Jack Allen Jr., and his grandparents.
Cremation has occurred and there will be a celebration of life on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at IOOF Lodge, 2340 East 9th Street in Des. Moines, Iowa.
Honorary pallbearers: Scott Allen, Eligah Dukes, Brandon Raitt, Jeff Sigler, Todd Allen, Johnny Duncun, Aaron Geigle, and David Lashley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family.

Dad,
Í just found out you passed away....and it shattered my whole soul. When my life was so unbelievebly in a place where nobody should have ever have to see or go thru.... You held my hand and guided me in a direction way more than I ever knew. Thank you for being who you were always my Dad... I miss you so bad I don't know what will happen to me but I will hold your hand when I see you again..

Eugene...never had a chance to see you again after all these years. I thank you for a short friendship before I took off to live in another state.
I still remember the sweetheart dance when you were in last year of being a senior and all the parties or simple fun we had with the rest of the gang.
You will be very much missed, I hope you are at peace...no more being in pain, whole again and living your best life now.

You were like a big brother to me and I loved you. I hope you are with your mom and brother now and are not in any pain anymore.
