Craig Briar
August 11, 2023
Craig Briar, 61, passed away on August 11, 2023, at his home.
Craig really enjoyed his lake house at Lake Thunderhead, and loved spending time as a family on the water; fishing, boating, and swimming at Alligator Bay. He enjoyed being a fixer-upper – but was also a perfectionist at this. He loved spending time in his garden.
He was very proud of his service to his country. He entered the Air National Guard when he was 18 and retired at the age of 46. He was an electrician in the Air National Guard, which allowed him to travel, and to meet many friends along the way. Craig received many awards for his work.
He then began his own company, Craig Electric LLC, where he continued his working relationships until retirement in 2019.
He had a special relationship with his three grandsons.
Craig is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christyn Briar; children, Jessica (Chad) Siedsma and Jamie Briar; grandchildren, Gavin Briar, Lucas, and Mason Siedsma; father, Charles Briar; siblings, Dianna Blixt and Michael Briar; brother-in-law, Richard (Tami) Singleton; sister-in-law, Cynthia Koenig; several nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie; brother-in-law, Alan Blixt; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Singleton; father-in-law, Robert Singleton; and his beloved dog, Bridget.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Craig will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Craig.

My condolences to the friends and family of Craig. He and his brother Mike wired my house many years ago.. He told me many stories over that time, Like the one about the demented robin that kept building its nest in the same place on his deck.
After a tree was toppled in a storm and damaged the house a couple of years ago I had to call in another electrician, He said that Craig did an excellent job and made his repair job so much easier because of that.

Craig was a good feeler and always had a smile. We had him come to our home several times to do electrical work for us and he was always so thrilled talking about Gavin as he was the only little one at the time. Just hearing him talk about things they did made us so happy for him. We are praying for Chris and the family as we know it is so hard to let go bit we hope you will remember all of the wonderful memories you all have had together. BLESS YOU ALL 🙏🙏🙏

Chris,
Janet and I are so sorry we've lost Craig. His "knowing smile" and the twinkle in his eye were always present. His legacy - your wonderful daughters and grandchildren will always remind us of him. Love to all of you.
