Service Details

Nora Belle Law passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones for the entire week leading up to and including her death. Nora was born on November 19, 1931, to Walter and Minnie Casner. She was number 10 out of 13 children. She grew up on the south side of Des Moines and was a very active student at Abraham Lincoln high school. She lived a full life and didn’t know a stranger. She had a creative spirit and was an artist, musician, gardener, and wonderful cook. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and loved to tell stories about all of them to anyone who would listen. Nora enjoys camping and traveling across the country. Some of her favorite stories to tell were about the skits she put on while wintering at River Ranch Resort in Rio Hondo, Texas. Although she battled with a variety of illnesses, she never lost her smile, humor, or sassiness. She loved Jesus and spoke with him often, especially in the last few months of her life. We’d like to believe she was met by Jesus, leading the charge, with her loved ones who went on before her. Nora is preceded in death by a multitude of family and friends. She is survived by Stacie (Joel) Nielsen (Karla and Larry Kruize); Deanne (Alan) Heaton, and their children, Beau (Stephanie) Heaton, and Cassie (David) Hansen; Gary (Rhonda) Walter and their children, Gary (Hope) Walter, Tim Walter, Brian Walter, and Emily (Loren) Coglizer; Mark (Christie) Knisley and Stephanie (Nathan) Wust (Larry Knisley; Terry (Jan) Knisley and their children, Megumi (Justin) Bauer and Ryan Knisley; Dale (Deb) Knisley and their children, Darci (Matthew) Clark and Dana (Andrew) Elrod; and Pam (John) Robinson and her children Tia (Stefani) Bernard and Josh (Rachel) Bernard. In addition, Nora enjoyed the fact that she was a great-grandma to 16 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life services will be held at Hamiltons Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th, Des Moines Iowa. Donations may be made in her name to one of these charities - Susan G Komen, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
