Donald Reeves

Donald Jack Reeves, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donald was born January 11, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa to Daniel W. Sr. and Hermina (Kolozsey) Reeves. He graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines in 1957. He served the United States Army from 1961 – 1964 as an Air Traffic Control Tower Operator. Donald was an electrician and a member of IBEW Local 347 and AFSCME, where he also served as past president. He was a Mason with Daylight Lodge #660. Donald was an avid motorcycle lover, and enjoyed riding and taking trips. He bought his most recent motorcycle at age 77. Donald was the type of guy that everybody loved. He loved socializing with friends, and you could find him as a regular at Croz Nest East and occasionally at the Eastside Sunrise Tap.
He is survived by his son, Rick Reeves (Kelli); significant other, Wanda Collins and her children, Gina, Chad, and Tammy; son-in-law, Tim Shaw; grandsons, Zach and Devin; brother, Charlie Reeves (Mary); first wife and mother of his children, Irene Reeves; and many other extended family and countless friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Shaw; brother, Daniel W. Reeves, Jr.; and parents, Daniel W. Sr. and Hermina Reeves.
Donald will be interred with military honors at Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at 2 PM.

I really enjoyed all of our motorcycle rides, especially the South Dakota trip. I always loved rehearing you tell the story about our night in the Knuckle Saloon in Sturgis. RIP my friend.
