Erica Lynn Carter

Erica Carter, 52, passed away August 7, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Erica was born January 28, 1971 in Des Moines to Aaron and Linda Carter. She graduated from Johnson High School and then from Iowa State with a Bachelor’s in Social Work. Her career was spent with Broadlawns Hospital and her most recent title was Mental Health Social Worker.

In her free time, Erica enjoyed gardening, traveling, music, photography, and spending time with her family and friends. Erica was fearless, courageous, faithful, strong-willed, loving, caring, funny and a mother to all. Everyone is going to miss her candor. She had no filter and never surgar-coated anything. We are also going to miss her fun personality and sense humor. Erica had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need.

She is survived by her husband, Ramon Brown-McCarrell; mother and step-father, Linda and Terry James; sister, Precious (Todd) Carber; brother, Aaron Carter; sisters-in-law, Jodi Harrell and Karen Brown; nieces, Jasmine Carter, Sophia Rezek, Annalynn Carber, Stephanie Burkett; nephew, Noah Carber; godson, Carter White; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Erica was preceded in death by her father Aaron Carter, Jr.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Bread of Life Church, 2727 E. Railroad Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.
