Betsy Gamerdinger, 36, passed away peacefully August 5, 2023 from a long-time heart condition.

Betsy was born May 26, 1987 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Karen Gamerdinger. She graduated from Urbandale High School in 2005 and attended college at DMACC, Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. She was employed at Just Paws Pet Store.

Betsy had a very fun-loving spirit; she was a practical joker and loved to make others smile. One of the things she and Mike, the love of her life, liked to do was dress up in costumes for all different occasions and sometimes for no reason at all. She loved to make people laugh and always displayed her big heart to help others before herself.

Betsy enjoyed playing with her nephews, her four-legged bestie, Bruno, and fur baby nephews, Duke and Bruiser. Assembling Legos, puzzle books and playing bingo were other interests of Betsy’s. She had a love for live music and riding the lawn mower. She enjoyed spending time with family and nights by the bonfire with friends; these were some of her favorite pastimes.

Those left to honor her memory are her best friend and long-time love, Mike Ball, Des Moines, IA; her mother, Karen Gamerdinger (Randy Meyer) Johnston, IA; sister, Billie (Brian) Payne, Waterloo, IA.; brother, Ryan (Erin) Gamerdinger, West Des Moines, IA; nephews, Grady and Nash Gamerdinger, West Des Moines, IA. and Koy (Kayla) Payne, Lakeville, MN.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Betsy in death were her father William Gamerdinger; her grandparents George Gamerdinger, Janet and Bob James and Ralph and Mardell Hane; her Aunt Vicki Pieper and her fur baby Boo Bear.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Hamilton Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, IA with a service at 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Christopher’s Restaurant, in Des Moines, IA 50310.
