George H. Sheeder of Des Moines, IA passed away at his home on August 2, 2023, leaving behind his wife, Monica “Mona” Sheeder (Foster); sons, Gordon (Michelle) Sheeder of Boone, IA, Michael G. Sheeder of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Rhonda Sheeder (Greg Catron) of Des Moines, IA; stepson, Earl Hill of Polk City, IA; stepdaughter, Donna Brown (Hill) of Des Moines, IA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George was born February 13, 1939, in Adair County, Iowa to Lyman and Faith (Clayton) Sheeder. In 1958, George married Ella L. Dorsey and they had three children together. He enjoyed farming in Adair County, Iowa, which included livestock, row crops, dairy herd, and his faithful Australian Sheppard dog, Georgi. Oliver Tractors were his favorite brand and even after moving to Des Moines he would sport an Oliver brand ball cap.

He sold out of farming and moved to Des Moines, IA in 1977, purchasing his home which he would remain in until his passing. While in Des Moines he started working at Mid Central Plastics in West Des Moines, where he finished his career as Shift Manager/Safety Manager.

George enjoyed working with hands in his retirement like remodeling his home and repairing various items around the house with tools and his welder.

He lost his beloved wife, Ella do to a car accident in 1985, and found love again with his second wife, Mona until his death. He and Mona had many wonderful years together, spent traveling, camping, and fishing. He will be greeted in heaven by his wife, Ella; his parents, Lyman and Faith; stepson, Chris; and granddaughter, Mesha.

He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.

Cremation will occur and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
