Tom Hart

Quentin “Tom” Hart, 73, passed away July 30, 2023.

Tom was born October 29, 1949 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Quentin and Mary Jane (Shaeffer) Hart. Tom was a member of the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 where he did two tours in Vietnam with a rank of E5 Sergeant. His main profession after leaving the army was a machinist where his work ethic, attention to detail and high standards served him well through his career. Tom’s family was very proud of him as he had strong family values and worked very hard to take care of his family and friends. One of his favorite times was playing board games with his children and grandchildren. He also liked to fix things with his tools around the house and yard as he took pride in having everything well maintained.

Tom fought a courageous battle with cancer that was derived from his time while in Vietnam. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Faith Hart; daughters, Catherine Douglas and Mary Jane Mehre; son-in-law Wayne Mehre; grandchildren, Sydney Mehre, Jordyn Mehre, and Darrell Douglas Jr.; sister Linda Greenawalt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Quentin and Mary Jane Hart; sister Bonnie Buell; and his son-in-law Darrell Douglas.

Family invites friends to join them for a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
