Phann Sos, age 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at his home in Des Moines.

Phann was born March 1, 1949, in Siem Reap, Cambodia where he spent his life into the early 20's. Like most Cambodians, he lost all contact with his family during the Khmer Rouge Regime. He ventured to Thailand where he met his wife, Yann. As they welcomed their first born, they dreamed of a better future for their family and began their journey to the United States in 1979. He worked for Monfort Co and Titan Tires for a majority of his career and transitioned to the Des Moines Public School System in the custodial department, where he retired. He enjoyed karaoke, doing things outdoors; such as fishing and hunting, cars and anything John Deere. He especially loved spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He was a beloved husband and father. He leaves behind his wife, Yann Chal; children, Suphap Phann (Mary), Phoeun Phann (Nong), Sophay Phann (Monica), Sally Chal and Kelly Phann; grandchildren, Tia, Khloey, Ashton, Layla, Max, Theo, Kyrie, Emilea, Keanu and Elijah; and great grandchild, Vera.

Phann was preceded in death by his mother in law, Saman Phoung and granddaughter Lea Phann as well as many extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023.
