Joshua Thompson

Joshua Paul Thompson, age 31, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023.

He was born November 15, 1991, in Des Moines, Iowa. He loved playing basketball and video games. Josh called himself the “Grill Master”. He always had a smile on his face and could always make his family laugh. Josh liked going on motorcycle rides and took pride in his appearance – he always smelled good and dressed sharp from head to toe. Above all, his family was most important to him.

He is survived by his fiancée, RaKeisha Crockett and step-son, Tyrez Crockett; his son, Spencer Thompson and Spencer’s mother, Mackenzie; and his son, Desmend Thompson and Desmend’s mother, Jordan.

Josh is also survived by his mother, Samantha Thompson; father, Shannon Cadwallader; mother-in-law, Nichole Hicks; bonus mother, Paula Robb; siblings, Jeremy Spencer, Keevon Mallory, Korvareon Mallory, Lacey Lynch, Natalie Cadwallder, Miah Cadwallder, Hope Cadwallader, Jacob Cadwallader, Matt Rench and Wynter Carr; grandparents, Donald and Pamela Thompson and Carol and Dave Burch; aunts, Katie Reisinger and Katrina Cadwallader and many other loving family and friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his uncles, Donald Charles Paul Thompson and Ronnie Gilliam.

A celebration of life will be held at Hope Elim, 2500 University Avenue, Des Moines on Friday, August 4, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00, funeral service at 12:00 p.m., and a luncheon to follow.
