Lois Stevens

Lois Marie Stevens passed away at the age of 94 on July 22, 2023, at Care Initiatives in Eldora, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens after the service.

Lois was born February 16, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked many places throughout her life, two of which were Woolworths Downtown Des Moines for 20 years, and Airport Hilton for 25 years. She retired in 2001 from working for anyone but her family. Lois always gave during her life, looking after family members and friends as much as she was able.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John Roy Free and Lula Marie (Oliver) Free, and two brothers, Harold and Stanley.

She is survived by her children, George (Steve) Stevens, Jr. and spouse Nancy, Roy Stevens, Mark Stevens and spouse Julie, Robert Stevens and spouse Robin, and Cheryl Stevens and Vong. Lois was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great- great- grandchildren.
