Homer was born September 25, 1941, in Rockwell, Iowa to Emery and Lucille (Fraser) Smothers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Homer was a concrete worker throughout his career and treasured the lifelong friendships made with his buddies from Local #177. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and his western movies. I was Homer's neighbor in Story City. When I was looking at apartments in the complex there was a miscommunication in the one I was supposed to see, so he opened his home to me so I could see the floorplan. He was so super nice. Wherever he was outside, he always had a smile and a wave when I was leaving for work or coming home. He was a sweet man and will be dearly missed! My love to all who knew him.
