Micheal (Mike) Edward Lawson Sr. was born on May 28, 1954, son of Pat and Ed Lawson. He grew up in Stanhope, IA., where he graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1972. After graduation, Mike joined the United States Navy where he served in the Vietnam War. After returning, Mike entered into his career of over the road truck driving which he did for over 44 years.

Mike passed away on July 15, 2023 at the age of 69, surrounded by loved ones at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy Lawson of Menlo, Angela Park of Des Moines, Micheal Lawson Jr. (Stacy) of St. Cloud, MN, and Paul Lawson (Hanna) of Eagle Grove, grandchildren Ross Ager (Alicia), Kara Haines (Casey), Riley, Raegan and Natalie Park, Samantha, Max, Noah, Avery & Tommy Lawson and great-grandchildren Carson and Kylie Haines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Kay and Bill Myers, infant sister Micole, son William (Billy) Nixon and granddaughter Alexa Lawson. Mike was cremated and there will be no services held as per Mike’s requests.
