Marjorie L. White

Marjorie LaVonne White, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle, Iowa.

Marjorie was born April 2, 1926, in Newton, Iowa to Lewis and Mildred Hood. She married Richard White, Sr. on March 29, 1946. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, and grandma. Marjorie enjoyed sewing and reading romance novels. In their earlier years, Marjorie and Richard loved going out dancing together.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Jr. (Candy) White, Keith (Dana) White, and Kevin (Terri) White; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Jo Bennett.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard White, Sr.; parents, Lewis and Mildred Hood; and her brother, Lewis Hood.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Za Ga Zig Shrine in loving memory of Marjorie.
