Sandra Lee Dennis, 82, passed away July 18, 2023 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.

She was born February 3, 1941 in Elgin, Illinois and grew up in Crystal Lake. Sandy graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1959 where she met the love of her life, Steve Dennis. She attended Moser Secretarial School in Chicago in 1959. Sandy worked at Greyhound Travel Services, CL Home State Bank, and Federated Insurance as a secretary. Steve and Sandy married September 7, 1963 and had two beautiful daughters from this union.

Sandy never met a stranger, she loved connecting with people and animals wherever she went. Sandy loved being a part of things and was very intuitive. She inherited her love of fashion from her mother and was always dressed to the nines. Sandy also really enjoyed antiques, miniatures, decorating, and blue/white dishes. She truly lived her best life the last few weeks of her life by spending time with her family at the lake and winning $800 at the casino. She will be deeply missed for her genuine compassion, sweet hugs, and kid like outlook on life.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Steve Dennis; daughters, Deborah (Bruce) Sweet and Elizabeth (Kevin Bartsch) Brown; grandchildren, Jaquelyn (John) Kritzberger, Ashley (Brandon) Nelson, Samantha Brown, and Thomas (Dakota Taylor) Sweet; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Nelson, EllieMae Kritzberger, Chandler Nelson, Layne Kritzberger, and Lillian Kritzberger; siblings, Terry (Dian) Micklevitz and Donna Spicer; fur babies, Cooper and Allie; and a host of other loving friends and family members.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Thomas Dennis; son-in-law, Michael Brown; Mother, Arlene (Travis) Jordan; and brothers, Patrick Jordan and Dennis Micklevitz.

Service will be held Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Mitchellville Community Center, 120 2nd Street NE Mitchellville, Iowa at 3:00 p.m. Please join the family following for a time of fellowship until 6:00 p.m. Family has requested guests to please dress comfortably in Sandy’s honor.
