Myrna Hesseltine
July 19, 2023
Myrna Lynn Hesseltine, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Myrna was born December 22, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Bernard and Florence (Johansen) Hare. She was a genuine people person who held everyone’s best interests at heart. She was always available to listen or counsel, whether it be her staff or her family, and she always gave the best advice. Myrna loved her career and all the close friendships she made throughout the years.
Never one to let physical limitations limit her, she was always up for a fun adventure or simply a drive in the car. Her trips to Galena and her experiences out on a sailboat were some of her fondest memories.
Myrna’s favorite snacks were the four Ps – potato chips, popcorn, pizza, and Pepsi, but only if it was out of a glass bottle! The love of her life was her sweet four legged furry friend, Tugger, and she was heartbroken when she had to re-home him due to her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Zentz; grandchildren, Haley (Brent) Barry, Hannah (Joshua) McDanel, and Gage Freeman; great-grandson, Owen; sisters, Maureen Richmond and Marla Pesek (Gerry); many nieces, nephews, other loving family members, friends, and caregivers who were like family.
Myrna was preceded in death by her son, Sean Hesseltine; and her parents, Bernard and Florence Hare.
There will be a memorial service Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines beginning at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Myrna.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

She was an inspiration of living through extreme diversity. She was the barometer to how I tried to live my life. She demonstrated kindness, positivity, looking at each event in her life with grace, patience and with love. Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Her presence in this life will be sorely missed.
