Mark Briley

Mark Briley, 66, passed away July 15, 2023 at home. He was born December 17, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to his parents Fred and Katherine (Bowlby) Briley.

He worked as a custodian for West Des Moines Community Schools for 23 years. When Mark was not working or spending time with his family he could often be found hunting, fishing, or working on cars. He also enjoyed music and playing guitar.

Mark is survived by his children, Joe (Amber) Briley and Kathy (Gary) Grieves; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Fred Briley, Janet Briley, and Denny Briley; his turtle, Oscar; and a host of other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mimi; parents, Fred and Katherine; son, Richard Bishop; siblings, George Briley and Carol Signs; granddaughter, Brandi Bishop; and great grandson, Kaidence Cooper.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memorial Gardens, 121 N.W. 60th Avenue Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial service will be held the following day, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will occur following at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
