Gloria Brockway

Gloria “Glo” Lawler Brockway, 97, passed away July 12, 2023 at Independence Village in Waukee, Iowa.

She was born October 7, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents Frank and Ida (Gibson) Lawler. Glo graduated from East High School in January, Class of 1944. After graduating she was employed by the Thomas Electric Company as their office manager and bookkeeper. In 1947 she married the love of her life Byron L. Brockway. They enjoyed fishing and spending time at their cabin in Minnesota. Glo loved music and playing her organ. She also enjoyed gardening and had many beautiful flowers in her home garden that she enjoyed sharing with her friends.

Gloria is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Byron Brockway; parents, Frank and Ida Lawler; siblings, Sylvia Gilmore, Ora Swift, Sara Maystadt, Harold Lawler and Eugene Lawler.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
