Wayne C. Franke

Wayne C. Franke, 68, died on Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Ft Des Moines Open Bible Church, 1116 Army Post Road, with burial at Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10-11 am Thursday at the church.

Wayne was born December 4, 1940, to Russell and Mae Franke in Creston. He worked 13 years at Vanmark in Creston and retired from Fawn Engineering. Wayne attended Ft. Des Moines Open Bible Church and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed car races, camping, fishing, and WWE wrestling.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Susan Franke, Sharon Franke, Russell (Renee) Franke, and Eddie (Tammy) Franke; step-sons, Dennis (Cheryl Richards) Smith and Joe (Denise Clark) Smith; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, LeRoy (Terri) Franke; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur; and sister, Betty.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family.

Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
