Rickie (Rick) Rice

Rickie “Rick” Rice, 51, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, from complications of diabetes.

Rick was born December 11, 1957, in Des Moines to Vergil and Ruth (Porter) Rice. He graduated from East High School. Rick was a loving son, brother and uncle. His love focused on his mother and family. He will be remembered for his huge laugh, bright blue eyes and radiant smile that lit the room.

Rick is survived by his mother, Ruth Rice Iseminger; sisters, Virginia (Gary) Thompson, Betty (Mike) Stapleton, Terry (Tom) Catron, Cynthia (Rick) Shepard, Ruth Anne Williams, (twin sister to Rick), and Becky (Les) Walters; brothers, Vergil Rice, Jr., William (Pam) Rice and David (Nanette) Rice; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Vergil, step-father, Warren Iseminger, and his brother, Johnny.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
