Alvin Thoren

Alvin E. Thoren, 90, died Friday, February 9, 2007. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alvin was born January 14, 1917 to Gilbert and Minnie Thoren in Des Moines. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked as a body repairman for Owen Crist. Alvin was a member of the Int’l Assoc. of Machinists & Aerospace Workers and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Alvin is survived by his brothers, Ralph (Fern) Thoren of Solon and Gilbert (Norma) Thoren of Hiawatha; sister, Marilyn Travis of Cedar Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie (Zagnoli) Thoren; four sisters; and three brothers.
