RoseMarie "Rosie" Gibson

RoseMarie “Rosie” Gibson, 84, passed away on July 4, 2023, at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House.
Rosie was born on February 12, 1939, to Frank and Maria Leo. She worked in various places, her last employment was at Lewis System of Iowa but due to a serious illness, she had to retire. Later she became a volunteer for Des Moines General Hospital, Southridge Medical Clinic, and Main Mercy Hospital, all together with 25 years of volunteering. Rosie loved life and lived it to the fullest.

She loved to dance, read, do garage sales, shopping, especially Black Friday shopping with her grandchildren. She would dress for every occasion and decorate for every Holiday. She loved visiting with her beloved children and grandchildren and going out to lunch with her friends. She enjoyed visiting with people and going to the Southside Senior Center. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was always the life of the party.

Rosie is survived by her children, Colette (David) Brown, Chuck (Bonnie) Gibson, and Nanette (Glenn) Hamilton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marfisa Gaulke.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel “Danny” A. Gibson; parents, Frank and Maria Leo; brother, Guido Leo; sister, Racheal Quijano; brother-in-law, Ted Gaulke; sister-in-law, Mary Flakne, and Marge Goodman; father-in-law, Charles Gibson; and mother-in-law, Virginia L. Gibson.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
