Frances "Vickie" Brown

Vickie Brown, 85, of Des Moines died November 27, 2009, at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Norwalk Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Vickie was born December 3, 1923, to Joseph and Bertha Phillips in Pruden, Tennessee. She married James W. Brown in 1943, and in 1965 they moved to Des Moines. She worked at Holiday Inn South and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Vickie is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Susan) Brown of Prole, Iowa, and Victor (Diane) Brown of Georgia; daughters, Brenda (Jim) Snyder of Des Moines, Kelly (Al) Carter of Texas, and Carla Brown of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Darcy Brown, Courtney Brown, Debbie Saxon, Laurie Durden, Bruce Brown, Heather Graham, Danielle Samples, Cari Carter, Jeff Whitacre, Crystal Landgrebe, Chelsea Whitacre, Mary Whitacre, Lee Ann Lawrence, Billy Rice, Rachel Phillips, Tandi Foust, and Laura Thrasher; thirty great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Navarre of Oregon, Virginia Headstrom of Milwaukee, and Pauline McDonald of Hammond, Louisiana; and brother Bobby Phillips of Hammond, Louisiana.
Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, and four brothers.
