Christy Carlson

Christy Carlson of Des Moines passed away on July 3, 2023. Christy was born December 10, 1996 to Michael and Wendy Carlson. She was born in Davenport, Iowa and moved to Altoona with her parents in 2018.

Christy graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa and received a Certificate from the U.S. Career Institute for a Pharmacy Technician in January 2021 and was very proud to have completed the course. As a child Christy played sports, piano, and flute but really enjoyed reading and having her cat close by her. Christy was currently a shift supervisor at Subway in Altoona and was loved and appreciated by co-workers.

She was a kind hearted and caring person that was loved by her family and friends, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Christy LOVED being Xanders mom.

Christy is survived by her parents, Mike and Wendy Carlson, son Xander Martin, step brother, Justan Carlson, fiancée Lonnie Martin, grandfather Warren Carlson, grandmother Delores Carlson, and her step-grandfather Charles Oviatt. Christy was preceded in death by her grandfather, Louis De Frieze, grandmother, Peggy Oviatt, and step-grandmother Sharon De Frieze.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home 105 4th Street S.W., Altoona, Iowa. Family will greet guest from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
